This case concerns a police raid on a private wedding function in Hassan Abdal, Attock district. The SHO led 30 police officials into the house of the petitioner, Iftikhar Ahmad, acting on a tip that dancing girls were performing inside during a marriage ceremony. The police arrested the two dancers and 23 male guests, registering a criminal case under Section 294 PPC (obscene acts in public) read with abetment provisions, and also invoking marriage-function laws that restrict ostentatious wedding displays.
The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, quashed the FIR and declared the arrests and entire police action illegal. The court held that the marriage-function laws only prohibit things like fireworks, illumination of public areas, and excessive meals, not private dancing inside a home. It also ruled that Section 294 PPC applies only to obscene acts committed in or near a public place, and since the event occurred inside a private, walled house, the law did not apply. The court further noted the SHO's allegations were vague, with no actual evidence of obscenity presented.
Importantly, the judgment emphasized that privacy of the home is a fundamental right under Article 14 of the Constitution and under Islamic law, and criticized the police for intruding into private family life without legal justification, calling such conduct an abuse of authority deserving condemnation.

لاہور ہائی کورٹ، راولپنڈی بینچ نے ایف آئی آر کو منسوخ کرتے ہوئے گرفتاریوں اور پوری پولیس کارروائی کو غیر قانونی قرار دیا۔ عدالت نے قرار دیا کہ شادی کی تقاریب سے متعلق قوانین صرف آتش بازی، عوامی مقامات کی روشنی سجاوٹ، اور کھانوں کی زیادتی جیسی باتوں کو ممنوع قرار دیتے ہیں، نہ کہ گھر کے اندر
