Matters of allotment or grant of lease of Government Lands

PLJ 1999 · Sindh High Court

This case involved a dispute over prime government land in Deh Gujro, Karachi. The plaintiff, an electric lamp manufacturers' association, had lawfully held and possessed a large plot of land since the 1950s, after acquiring it as evacuee property with official confirmation. The trouble began when the then Chief Minister of Sindh personally intervened to allot a portion of this land, about 35 Ghuntas, to a private individual (Defendant No. 3) at a drastically undervalued price, bypassing normal rules and relaxing conditions without justification.
